Pomegranate Martini

Day 29

Pomegranate Martini
4 shots out of 5

During one of our family get together's for Christmas my aunt made a pitcher of Pomegranate Martinis.

She can't remember what the exact recipe was, so I can't replicate it perfectly but decided to give my own version a shot.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

I enjoyed this cocktail (even though it's not a blended cocktail!) a lot.

It kinda grew on me a bit.

I had initially made it without the lemon and um, YUCK!

So I decided that I needed to add the lemon to balance it out and it totally worked!

This cocktail doesn't taste too strong, but after a little you can feel that you are drinking alcohol.

I was excited to finally have a reason to buy the Pom Pomegranate juice at the store.  I always pass in in the isle and admire it's neat shaped bottle and cool dark maroonish coloring, and what about that adorable heart instead of the "o" in Pom!

OK, OK, enough about the packaging, lets get to the recipe.

Doesn't it look absolutely delicious!!  I looove the color of it too!

  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

  1. I didn't chill my cocktail glass tonight, but I totally should have. Chill your cocktail glass. In a shaker add ice, vodka, Grand Marnier, pomegranate juice and lemon juice. Shake real well and strain into your "chilled" cocktail glass.

  3. Not bad, and it's gotten me out of my vodka tonic or vodka sour routine. Thanks, Cocktail Lady!

  7. Pretty good drink, but I think next time I'll cut the pom juice down to 2 shots. My first taste of pom juice - I got the light version - it was good. I mostly tasted pom juice, but I do understand the need for the lemon juice - it would have been way too sweet without it. Thanks!

    1. Glad you liked it. Maybe that's why I gave it 4 shots out of 5. I think I'll try to cut back the Pom juice next time I make it and see how it tastes. Thank You for your comments!! Cheers!!

    2. I tried two shots of pom juice, then one. I actually like the taste of vodka (and I buy Gray Goose which is good!). I like the one shot of pom juice the best, but since you don't particularly like the taste, maybe 2 shots of pom would be best for you :)

    3. OK got it! Yes that must be the difference. I do like the faint taste of vodka, not that's it. Yes Grey Goose Vodka is a good vodka, you're right! I just found in the store that Pom has different flavors now (not sure how new these flavors are, but they're new to me), I purchased a pomegranate mango and a pomegranate blueberry which I am excited to try in the future.
