Purple Nurple

Day 105

Purple Nurple
3 shots out of 5

OK, first thing's first.  This cocktail is NOT purple.

A dark blue color......yes......but purple....no.

Oh well, I suppose life must go on.

Hope you are all enjoying the last couple days of May.

Not quite sure where January-May went.....perhaps these nightly cocktails have something to do with that?

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.

Not a bad cocktail.

I think I taste the orange liqueur and/or blue curacao the most in this cocktail, but that's ok.

I was really hoping for a purple color (hence the name), but I know it's hard to make.

The pink color in cranberry juice can never compare to the blue curacao, it's just too thick and the cranberry juice is too thin to be able to make a good purple color.

Oh well.  I think this cocktail would be a good idea for a wedding shower or baby shower where that true blue color is one of the theme colors.

You could have them already made and sitting on a table for the guests to enjoy.

You could also add a little bit of champagne to it to give it that bubbly look.

Here is the photo of the end result:

Here is the recipe for a Purple Nurple:

  • 1 shot coconut rum
  • 1 shot orange liqueur
  • 1/2 shot blue curacao
  • 2 shots cranberry juice
In a shaker add ice, rum, orange liqueur, blue curacao and cranberry juice.  Shake it up real good and strain it into your cocktail glass.

Here's to at least the word purple being in the name of this cocktail!

Cheers!!
