Raspberry Gimlet
4 shots out of 5
Yes you saw that right!
I gave a high rating to a cocktail that has Gin in it!
I know, I know......I'm starting to get well rounded in the world of alcohol these days.
Gone are the days where vodka and rum were the only two liquors in my cabinet and here are the days where there are too many liquors, liqueurs and mixes in my cabinet....you can check them all out here, everything but my purees, Voyant Chai and lime juice which are in the fridge.
I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.
Yes it has gin in it, and yes I gave it a 4.
Sip one tasted like lime juice. Sip two I tasted more of the raspberry puree and sip three is where the gin finally made it's appearance.
The rest of the sips the ingredients seemed to all be heard.....or tasted. These three flavors go pretty well together and this cocktail is a nice looking color too!
If you enjoy a gin cocktail, you may want to give this one a try.

Here is the recipe for a Raspberry Gimlet:
- 2 oz gin
- 1 oz raspberry puree
- 1 oz lime juice
In a shaker add ice and all of the ingredients above. Shake them up real good and strain your cocktail into a chilled martini glass.
Here's to me enjoying another cocktail that contains gin. Who'd have thunk it? Not me!
Cheers!!

I am normally not a gin drinker either... but this sounds tasty! I love raspberry flavor. . We have another gin cocktail that we like..... where you infuse tea into the gin. It is now my drink of choice. http://meetmakelaugh.blogspot.ca/2012/03/melange-of-table-toppers.html

DeleteHi! Love your blog! Is Roses the lime juice you always use when a drink calls for lime juice? I've been using regular lime juice and not liking the results. I think I need to use what you are using! Thanks for all the fun ideas!
ReplyDeleteHello! Thank You! I'm glad you love it! I am having an absolute blast creating it, who knew I'd like so many different cocktails!
DeleteSo far I've used 3 different lime juices. The first one is Nellie & Joe's Famous Key West Lime Juice, that stuff was pretty potent! A little goes a long way.
The second one I used was fresh squeezed lime juice, this was good, not as potent as the Nellie & Joe's one.
The third is the Roses that I'm using now, this one is good too. It's actually the brand of grenadine I use as well.
Good Luck and let me know what you think of it if you do try it! Cheers!!
I HAVE been using the Key West Lime Juice and you are right, it's potent stuff! I'll try the Roses this weekend and report back. Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, I tried it. I love gin cocktails and this one is awesome! I used the sweetened lime juice, but I was unable to find raspberry puree. I used Raspberry Cranberry Cocktail, which is more cran than rasp, plus has HFCS, but the drink is still great! Thank you so much for this blog! It's so much fun to see what you do everyday, even though I don't care for the banana drinks! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou tried it! Yeay! I'm sorry you can't find the puree, but I'm still glad you substituted and liked it. I'm also excited that you're enjoying my blog! I love hearing from you and everyone on these cocktails I make. It makes this blog that much more fun to do! Bad news.......if you don't like my banana drinks, you won't like tonight's shooter, lol. Sorry. Let me know if you try any other of these cocktails =)
