An American In Paris & American Harvest Vodka

An American In Paris &
American Harvest Vodka

I was sent a free product to review in exchange for my honest opinion.  All views in this post are mine and I was not compensated for them in any way.

Happy Earth Day!

It's Tuesday and all of my school-aged kids are back to school and we are back to our regular scheduled program........uh, routine.

The last spring break lasted 10 days and I will tell you, those 10 days flew by.  It feels good to be back in our routine though I must say.

I was contacted by American Harvest to try their vodka and possibly make one of their recipes for Earth Day.

I was sent a nice looking bottle of vodka and a handy little recipe book with quite a few recipes inside (the little booklet hanging from the bottle has a few recipes in it as well.....but that's not the book I was talking about).

As you can see on the bottle, American Harvest is an Organic Spirit.

It comes from the same creators of Grey Goose and is 100% US owned and operated.

American Harvest uses organic materials and production processes.  One-third of their electrical consumption every month comes from wind power and their bottles are 100% recyclable right down to their organic inks and water-soluble varnishes on their labels.

I looked through the recipe book they sent and bookmarked quite a few cocktails.  The one I chose to go with today is called An American In Paris.

This cocktail was very good!  I haven't used Elderflower Liqueur in quite a while, so this recipe gave me the chance to do so.

Here is a photo of the end result:
(this cocktail looked a bit greener then what the photo shows)

Here's the recipe for An American In Paris:

  • 1 1/2 ounces American Harvest Vodka
  • 1/2 ounce elderflower liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake and strain your cocktail into a chilled martini glass and enjoy!

Thank You to American Harvest for sending me this beautiful bottle of your Organic vodka!

Cheers!!

Peeps Paradise

Happy Friday before Easter!

We are once again hosting Easter dinner which we are completely looking forward to.

Easter is our holiday to host and we love having both sides of the family over.

What is even better is that our families get along so well that it just always turns out to be a fun night.

We will have our annual Easter Egg hunt and it is kind of sad this year because we will only have 4 out of 8 kids participating.  One of them will not be here this year, but the other 3 are.....gasp.....too old for it.

I found this recipe in an email from BevMo.

It sounded delicious and I could not wait to try it.

This cocktail, I must say, is GREAT.

I really really like it......I mean really....it's gone already.  Should I make another one?  Perhaps so.

I have not used my banana liqueur in a cocktail in quite some time and now that I have....yea I'm gonna have to create some more cocktails with it because man it's good!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Husky Vodka

Husky Vodka

I received a bottle of Husky Vodka in the mail the other day.

I will admit that I have never heard of it until now.

I was sent a free product to review in exchange for my honest opinion.  All views in this post are mine and I was not compensated for them in any way.

I opened up the package and thought, what a cool bottle with that paw print on the front.

I poured a little into a glass and took a sip.

I will admit that this vodka did go down pretty smooth.

When I have tasted straight vodkas in the past a lot of them force me to cringe and make "that face".

Husky vodka did not.

I think this vodka is good and would make some pretty good cocktails.

Another thing I like about this bottle is that once you open the top, it has a plastic insert inside the tip that allows you to pour your vodka at a slower pace instead of completely over pouring when you are measuring.

Oh and I love the paw print on the top too.

I was also sent some information on the vodka.

Did you know that Husky Vodka donated $1 from each and every bottle that is sold to local dog rescue shelters?

I think that's pretty cool!

What they're doing is helping these dogs get what they need (food, shelter, medical care) until they are found loving homes.

Nice work Husky!

All in all I am impressed with the flavor, look and what the people at Husky are doing for dogs at dog shelters.

If you want to check them out for yourself, here are a few links.

Thank You Husky Vodka for sending me a bottle of your vodka!!

Cheers!!

Easter Margarita

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Our oldest is back to school as his spring break was last week, which means baseball practices and games are in full swing!

Next week starts our second oldest's spring break.

The nice thing about the elementary and middle schools here is that for spring break they (lately) have been getting the week before and the day after Easter off.  Nice!

Today I was online searching for some yummy looking Easter (the word Easter can be typed solely with your left hand) (you totally just tried it didn't you?) cocktail recipes......and kinda struck out.

Knowing I wanted to make something new for you all, I decided to just close my browser window and create something all of my own.

I have not yet heard of an Easter cocktail with tequila in it, so I decided.....let me be the first (or at least in my world.....I'm sure there are some out there)!

This cocktail is......um, really good!

If you have a crowd on Easter that enjoys tequila......or even if just  you enjoy tequila, this is the cocktail to make.

The juices go quite well with the tequila and the sweet & sour mix adds that perfect finishing touch to your margarita, yum!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is my recipe for an Easter Margarita:

  • 1 1/2 ounces cranberry cocktail juice
  • 1 ounce orange juice
  • 1 ounce silver tequila
  • 1/2 ounce sweet and sour mix

In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Stir it up well and dump everything into your cocktail glass.

Here is to yet another choice to make on Easter.  To margarita or not to margarita, THAT is the question!
